Sara L. Rose aggressively protects employers' rights in workers' compensation and employment-related matters. She only practices workers’ compensation and employment law, so clients benefit from deep expertise in this area. She has experience representing Fortune 100 companies, small family-owned businesses, and everyone in between.
For several years, Sara has been the only attorney in Central and Southern Ohio certified by the OSBA as a specialist in both Labor & Employment Law and Workers' Compensation Law. She graduated as the Valedictorian of the Capital University Law School in 1995 and earned her B.A. with Honors from the University of Maryland.
Sara has successfully represented employers in Ohio’s trial courts, courts of appeal, and Supreme Court, as well as federal courts. She has defended clients in a wide variety of administrative claims, including those before the EEOC, OCRC, OSHA, Industrial Commission, and Unemployment Compensation Review Commission. Sara has close relationships with employers across Ohio, for whom she writes policies and contracts and provides advice to limit litigation exposure.
Her current memberships include the Fairfield County Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association (Board of Governors, Labor and Employment Law, 1999–2006), American Bar Association, and Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce. She is a co-founder of 100 Women Who Care of Fairfield County.
Sara served on the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland (2011-2017), Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce (2000-2005, Chairman 2003), Violet Festival (2000-2005), and Capital University Law School Alumni Association (1999-2001). She was a Pilgrim on Reynoldsburg United Methodist’s Women’s Walk to Emmaus #70 (2007), Community Outreach and Missions Coordinator for Grace Fellowship Church in Pickerington (2006-2007), Local Area Representative for Foundations for Intercultural Travel (2006-2008), a founding member of the Ohio Society for Human Resource Management’s Governmental Affairs Strategy Board (2000-2008), and a Mediator for Franklin County Settlement Week (1995-2004).

Mark M. McCarthy has over 25 years of legal experience advising and representing employers in workers’ compensation, employment, and corporate matters. Mark strives to provide companies of all sizes with expert legal advice and innovative business solutions based upon sound and resourceful strategies.
Mark represents both state-funded and self-insured employers before the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Industrial Commission, and courts throughout Ohio. He represents state-funded employers on alternative premium programs, premium rate calculation, audit protests, employer safety procedures, claims administration, and defense strategies. He advises and assists employers on the administrative process for obtaining self-insurance and represents self-insured employers before the Self-Insured Review Panel. Mark counsels and defends employers against discrimination, OSHA, EEOC, unemployment, violations of specific safety regulations (VSSR), and other employment-related claims.
Mark serves as corporate counsel for many small to medium companies, advising on a wide range of issues including corporate law, commercial law (formation and advice), contracts, employment, and landlord-tenant matters. Mark is skilled in analyzing and resolving all types of legal and human resource issues that businesses face daily. In addition, Mark has extensive experience in managing regulatory compliance and legal issues when establishing new business ventures in jurisdictions throughout the United States.
Before joining the firm, Mark worked for private law firms, and for 15 years, served as the General Counsel & Director for The Frank Gates Companies--a national company specializing in third-party claims administration and insurance-related activities. Mark served as the C.O.O. for the Ohio Operations of The Frank Gates Service Company representing over 12,000 Ohio employers in workers’ compensation and unemployment claims, and as a member of the Board of Directors for AGIL, a Bermuda-based captive reinsurance company.
Mark is a frequent speaker at seminars relating to Ohio workers’ compensation law. Mark is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Workers’ Compensation Committee, the Ohio Labor Committee, and the Ohio Corporate Council Committee. In addition, Mark was recognized as a Top Lawyer in 2017 and 2018 by Columbus CEO, and has a 5-star AV® rating from Martindale Hubbell.
